Hong Kong is a lively and incredibly densly populated city. It combines traditional chinese culture with a modern metropolis like hardly any other place on earth. Hong Kong is constantely changing, while still holding on to its traditions – this duality is almost tangible in the city.
These 4-color screen prints (CMYK) show various scenes in Hong Kong. But instead of printing four color channels of the same image, I printed one color channel of four different video stills on top of each other. A special aesthetics was created as the camera position didn’t move, while some parts of the scenes did. Therefore the non-moving parts of the image are shown in the ‚correct‘ colors, while the moving parts are only shown in particular channels. This way it was possible to capture several moments in a single image and thus showing a whole sequence. Yet a again the duality of movement and standstill becomes visible.
